What Is Digilocker?
DigiLocker was launched last year by the government to enable Indians store a range of official documents. The inclusion of driving licence and vehicle ownership documents recently expands the use of service and makes it easier for those carrying such official documents every time they step out of their homes.

The system will not only eliminate corruption, but is also a step towards realising the prime minister’s Digital India drive. It will be at par with the physical certificates and documents as per the IT Act, 2000.
On September 7, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, launched the DigiLocker with the Driving Licence and Vehicle Registration system of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Now there will be no Need to carry your Driving License or RC Book while you go outside but still the other documents like pollution certificate may still be needed.
Features Of DigiLocker:-
- DigiLocker provides 1GB of storage space in which users can store identification cards,PAN cards,driving licence and more will be added soon.
- The App is available on Andriod Playstore and also you can sign up on the Official Website
- Through the app, the self-loaded documents can be digitally signed using the eSign facility, which is similar to the process of self attestation.
- The App as well as the site is still Been Made better and there are bugs present which will get better with time.

Soon, more documents can be added to effectively reduce the burden of carrying a host of original documents.
